Joodle: Jogging, Gaming, Exploring

Joodle is a project that aims to make jogging more interesting. Inspired by the "dot-to-line" drawing games, the idea of this game is to turning the jogging track into a specific pattern. Based on real-time location, the goal of this game is to motivate people to jog and explore their jogging routes. Joodle is simple to play: choose a "map", follow each mark to finish a specific pattern to "Draw something with your feet".

IDEA: Turning Jogging into a game

While there are tens of Mobile Apps focusing on goals, mileage, and calories about jogging, we noticed that lots of experienced joggers enjoyed to share their jogging path through social network. Some joggers even create patterns particularly by jogging to convey somewhat message to someone. Therefore, we started to come up with an idea to make use of this interesting phenomenon and gamification techniques to design an engaging game by combining three concepts together, which could encourage more and more players to jog, to explore, to create and to share.

Elements

Our basic idea for this App was to let the users explore the route by reaching each checkpoint to reveal the whole path. To achieve this, we need to have a bunch of pre-designed jogging routes. But will we, if as an game company, have the ability and time to create that amount of maps to satisfy users jog a lot and live in different place?

Our answer was to allow the players DESIGN their own route and share the creation with others.

Meanwhile, considering to make the game more interesting and social, we also designed EVENT mode, which encourages the joggers to collaborate together to complete a pattern.
